Getting to know Marathon Deployment posts are a several part effort to introduce our team to you. Spotlighting Tony Lomazzo our Vice President of Business Development.
1. What is your role within Marathon Deployment?
I joined Marathon in 2014 as the Director of Business Development. I am responsible for the growth of new business opportunities and develop new client pipeline within the QSR and Retail industry.
2. Where did you work previously?
I worked for one of the leaders in the point-of-sale QSR industry. I managed their Installation and Field Service organization for 29 years.
3. What attracted you to working with Marathon Deployment when you were still our client contact?
During my 30 year career I’ve always been in a customer service role and had one goal in mind. It was to always go out of my way to take care of the client and exceed expectations. I noticed these same characteristics when I signed Marathon up as a service provider. Marathon did what was needed to take care of me as the client. This same level of attention was noticed at all levels up to and including the CEO. For me, when it was time to start the next chapter of my career and I knew I had to be with Marathon.
4. What have you learned since working with Marathon Deployment that you’d like more clients to know about us as a company?
Marathon is large enough to handle a major deployment of several thousand sites or as small as one. We will work hard to earn your business and keep it moving forward. With our professional installation team you can trust us to manage and deploy your IT solution. This industry is full of companies that will take any request just to close the business. We will ensure we have the talent to be successful before accepting a bid. If you’re looking for a company that will stand behind their workmanship and takes pride in every job, then look no further.
5. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
One of my true loves is photography. I’ve always been interested in taking pictures. As a young child I remember having a Kodak camera that took 110 film and had a square flash cube. Today, I will shoot wedding, sporting events, or just general shots. I also enjoy fishing, camping and drowning golf balls. One day while golfing I had a drive get away from me and I put my shot into a pool on the golf course. I took my ball retriever and looked to see if anyone was home. When I saw the coast was clear I entered the back yard to fish out my ball. In the meantime, my golf partner thought it would be funny to take my picture.
I also help out a local band running stage lighting. During the summer months this gets very busy as they are a very popular band performing at weddings, bars and private parties. This helps me feel young and stay in good shape. It has been very rewarding for me to be one of the guys in the band I grew up with that have always been a big part of my life. The entire band is like one big family!
6. A lot of our customers mainly interact with you remotely, share a story of meeting a customer/client in person and facing the unexpected.
In today’s world with social media you can find your customer or client online. In one case I never met this vendor and I talked with him for six months. One day we had an opportunity to meet up for lunch. We met at a restaurant and never asked what each other looked like. We ended up calling each other once there and were able to find one another. This made a fun lunch with lots of laughs.
7. What first impression would you like potential clients to take away?
Marathon is a company you should take a serious look at for your next installation or deployment project. We understand the importance of a successful engagement and have the tools and knowledge to make it happen.
