Getting to Know Marathon Deployment

In preparation for the 2016 NRF BIG Show we asked Alan Wentzell our Client Service Delivery Manager to share about his background, interests and what to expect from the show.

What’s your role at Marathon Deployment, and how long have you been here?

I currently hold the title of Service Delivery Manager. That means I have to ensure that every service event or installation that is assigned to a Marathon Field Engineer in our network has an outcome that meets our client’s expectations. My eight year anniversary is this month.

What did you do prior to working here?

My background is in store operations. I previously worked for two big box retail stores as an Operations Manager.

As one of the original founders of this group what are a few of the reasons that companies choose your services?

Simple, our personalized service and the dedication of our staff.

What sort of problems does Marathon solve?

The biggest advantage of using Marathon is our extensive network of nationwide freelance Field Engineers.  If you have a location where you need a Field Engineer Marathon can provide one anywhere in the United States.

Tell us something that happened while working at Marathon Deployment that you haven’t forgotten?

It’s a funny story. I was away from the office and when I came back my complete cubicle, desk, chair, PC and phone were all wrapped up in aluminum foil. A little practical joke from my staff.

What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

I love to cook. I like to prepare nice dinners from the appetizer to the main course.

When you aren’t working how do you like to spend your time?

I have two passions. Eating or preparing great food with my wife and going on fishing trips with my son.

You have been attending the National Retail Federation BIG Show for seven years.  For those that have never attended or are on the fence, what is one cool reason for them to attend Retail’s BIG Show 2016 in January in NYC?

The biggest reason for attending is the wealth of technical information that a company can learn. There is a wide spectrum of vendors showcasing their expertise. Whether you are looking for new equipment or new solutions to make your business run efficiently you can find it there.
